So, here is the card I made purely out of scrap paper this week. I saw this card template on www.kwernerdesign.com last week and really wanted to try it, so I decided to make it with my scrap paper (which I have plenty of). She does some really cool cards that have an array of different folds. I go there when i need to get my juices flowing for a card idea!
Okay, so here are the instructions:
Base card is 11x4 and scored from each end at 2' and 3 3/4'. And then it is folded accordingly.
Both front panels are 3 3/4' x 1 3/4'
The inside patterned paper is 3 3/4' x 3 1/4' and the solid inside paper is 3 1/2' x 3'
The blocks on the front under the stamped images from front to back are the following size squared: 1 3/4', 2', 2 1/4', 2 1/2', 2 3/4'
The top square is adhered with pop dots for a 3D effect so I would go ahead and stamp my image before assembling the squares together. All of my edges are inked and I stamped the matching owl inside the card for fun. I used a blender pen and colored in the owl on the front with blue, green, and orange. He is so cute! This owl and his cage come from the Stampin UP! set called Aviary.
Once you have all the squares attached together it is time to adhere it to the card front...now, you only attach it to the left side! DO NOT put adhesive on the entire back side. I put my adhesive on the card and then laid it down, but whatever is easier for you...just remember to not put it on both sides or you won't be able to open it!! I did not stamp a sentiment, so that when I am ready to mail it, I can stamp the appropriate sentiment inside and it will be done!
This card comes out to be a square card that is 4x4. The video I watched actually made it a little wider than 4 inches, but I wanted mine to be a perfect square so I changed the dimensions a little bit. I made an envelope with the Cricut Cartridge "Beyond Birthdays". I set the square card envelope on shadow at 6 inches. It makes a perfect 4x4 envelope! I assembled and stamped the envelope and it is ready to be mailed!
Good luck with the challenge! See you next Wednesday with the winner! Remember, it is always fun to use the scraps and make something homemade!
