Owl Pillowcase Box

I know I say this a lot, but, seriously, how much cuter can you get???  This is an owl made with the Stampin' UP! tag punch and the scalloped circle punch.  The circles of the body is a 1 inch circle punch I got from Hobby Lobby.  The tiny circles for the eyes were done with my Cricut and the feet are tiny flowers from a mini punch I bought at Micheal's.  The pillowcase box was cut out on the Cricut using my SCAL software.  You can find a template as well anywhere on the Internet!  Just fill the box with treats, decorate and send to someone you love!  Have fun and remember, it is always homemade!

Whooooo?

My best friend had her baby on the first of March and of course I paid her a visit at the hospital! She loves owls so, along with a very cute owl toboggan (which wasn't ready yet) made by another friend of mine, I brought this as a welcoming gift and card to the hospital.  I brought a picture of the toboggan for her to see.  She was thrilled!

I saw a printed owl card online one day and I saved it because I thought that maybe I could make one with the same general principle in mind. The fold, I saw on www.kwernerdesign.com yet again. She has been going through a card of folding book lately and has had some really cool folds for homemade cards. This was one of them. The card base is a piece of paper that is 4 1/4x11. You then lay the paper horizontally on a score board and you score at 2 1/2 and at 7 1/2. So, after I had seen the printed owl card and then saw this fold, I knew what I would do....I would merge the two cards and make a really cute owl card! And---it was perfect timing for my friend's baby to come! :)

I covered the top and bottom flap with patterned paper. The top flap is 4 1/4x2 1/2 and the top flap is 4 1/4x3 1/2. The beak is just a large triangle that is inked around the edges. The eyes are made out of a 2 1/2 inch diameter circle, a 2 inch diameter circle and a 1 inch diameter circle. I inked the edges of the large eye circle, made dashes around the green circles and put little white lines in the blue circles of the eyes. I rounded the corners of the bottom flap and then cut a half oval out of the top flap to give the appearance of the ears of an owl. I used my Creative Memories cutting system to cut the oval out of the top flap. You have to leave enough on each side of the cut out area to keep the card flap attached. You then attach the bow and you can call it done and very, very cute!

MY FIRST VIDEO!!!!! AHHHHH!!!

Let me begin by saying...."NO CHUCKLING PLEASE!!!"  Hope you enjoy the video and I hope it helps you make this cute owl.  I have to say, it is so weird listening to yourself on a video!  I sound so strange!  :-)

As promised, I actually did a video!!!  Wow!  I am not going to do these all the time, but I thought for some things, they might be appropriate and a lot of help!  So, here goes!  This is the Valentine Owl that I made for my daughter to give to her Bible Class Teachers on top of a piece of candy (see my post of 2/14/12).  They turned out so cute.  Enjoy the video!  FYI:  I do go off the camera a couple of times to cut with scissors....I will work on that!  :-)

Also, I think you could use these for NUMEROUS things...i.e. cards, scrapbook layouts...just change the colors and you would have a whole new look.  Have fun and good luck!  Remember, it is always homemade!

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day!  I hope everyone has a great day with their significant other!  Today my son has a Valentine party at his preschool and last week we made these valentines for all of his classmates.  He is really into pirate stuff this year....his Birthday Party next week is going to be decorated as such and when I asked him what kind of valentines he wanted, his reply was "pirates" of course!  So, since I couldn't find any in the store, we made them!  Imagine that.  I proceeded to cut out about 50 of these little pirate faces from the Cricut cartridge "Paper Doll Dress Up".  I had to cut out enough for all the kids in his preschool class as well as his friends in Bible Class.  I cut them out, but he glued them all down.  I applied the glue and he stuck it all down.  He did awesome!  The only part that I did was the eye patch just because it was a such a slim piece.  Anyway...these are the finished product!  They were so cute.  We glued them onto Reese Cups and put different funny pirate phrases on the back.  Here are a couple of examples...1.  "I've got my EYE on you".  2.  "I'd walk the plank for you!"....etc...   They will surely be a big hit!

These owl valentines are so cute as well!!!  I saw this on http://www.stampwithheather.typepad.com/ and copied it for my daughter's valentines for her Bible Class teachers.  They turned out soooooo cute.  We glued these to candy as well and then on the back circle wrote the sentiment, "Owl always love you".  Too cute!!!!  This owl could be made for anything...a scrapbook layout, a card...etc...  Believe it or not, I actually did a video of how to make these owls...once my husband helps me download it to YouTube, I will hopefully post it!
