My First Stand Up Card....Seriously

I have made so many different cards, but I have not made many different folded cards....does that make sense?  I have never made a stand up card!  They always look so cute, but I just have never done it, so here is my first!  As you can see, when it is opened the one who receives it can open it up, read it and then display it if they so choose.  It was difficult to try and type the instructions on how to do this (believe me, I tried) but I was even confused!  :-)  So, I did a quick video on the basic fold of this card and also on how to make a 5x5 envelope to put it in.  The final size is a 5x5 square card.  The sizes for the paper on it are just 1/4 inch less than the squares or rectangles they sit on.  So, have fun watching the video and go make a stand up card this afternoon!  Another picture from the front is below which is followed by the video!

Hope this helps you create a new stand up card!!!  Have a great day and remember it is always homemade!

Card Set Holder

This turned out so much cuter than I anticipated!!!  It looks great finished and put together with the black and white card set that was on the blog last week!!!  It is perfect for a gift or to store finished cards.  The original idea was on http://www.kardsbykadie.blogspot.com/ in January 2012 and I saw this on http://www.southerninkerbelles.blogspot.com/ during February!  I changed the size of theirs so that I could fit A2 size cards in it instead of 3x3 cards.  I use and make mostly A2 size cards and I wanted something that would work for me, so, after a few test runs, I got the measurements right and made a 2 part video for you!  Enjoy and get started!  You WON'T be disappointed with the outcome!  The measurements are re-written below the videos.

PART 1

PART 2

Measurements:

12x12 piece of Cardstock
Score at 5 1/4 and at 6 3/4
Turn Clockwise
Score at 1 3/4 and at 6 1/2
Cut as seen in video
Trim a 1/2 inch off of the top flaps and bottom flaps
Trim 1 3/4 of an inch off the middle flaps
Fold as seen in video
Top indention for the slant cut is 3 1/4 from the side
Side indention for the slant cut is 3 3/4 from the top
Glue and fold as directed in the video

Here is the finished project all wrapped up as a gift to someone of your choice!!  I mean, wouldn't you get excited if you got this as a gift????  Thanks to Kadie and Beth for the inspiration for this card holder!!

Have a great day and remember it is always homemade!!!

Tree Climbing...

Okay, so, I am not going to lie to you....this is a layout I did back last year sometime....I just didn't make it this week to do a new scrapbook layout.  We have had two weeks of sick kids around this house.  My son had a stomach bug last Monday and Tuesday...which followed with laundry for days.  Then when we thought we were over it and none of the rest of us was going to get sick, my daughter had an ear infection, stomach bug and a high fever for 5 days this week....so, to say the least, I have been busy!!!  Yesterday was our first real "normal" day since all the sickness but we started it off with a four year old check up visit that included 4 shots, a finger prick and all the other jazz of a four year old visit!  I am making freezer meals today too and my kitchen has been a mess all morning but it will all be worth it in the end!  So, maybe next week we can get back into the swing of things!!!  So, that is my list of excuses!

On to the layout...This is a collage of pictures of Harrison "climbing" in the trees with Daddy's help!  I cut the tree out and the grass border and adhered that and the journaling box before I placed the pictures.  I had just gotten my SCAL software and had found this really cute tree SVG and I was itching to use it.  So, I arranged the pictures after I adhered the border.  I think it turned out really cute!  I love the tree!!!  The tree stamp in the journaling box was an added embellishment that matched perfectly with the theme!

Hope you enjoy the layout.  It was pure luck that I had the two earlier posts of the week already done and scheduled or you wouldn't have gotten anything on the blog this week!  I am already working on the first two posts for next week.  I have 2 videos for you next week as well.  I told you I would do some from time to time but this week both projects need a little more instruction than just typing!  So, lucky you!  :-o)

Hope you have a great weekend and remember, it is always homemade!!!

Black and White Card Set

How cute and classy are these????  I designed these myself!  Aren't you impressed???  As I have said before, I get a lot of ideas from magazines, blogs and Internet search engines, but this time it came from my own head!!!  I made these one afternoon during my kids' nap time (which is the only quiet time of the day for me).  They turned out so cute...even cuter than I expected.  I don't usually work with white cardstock and here is the reason....YOU MUST KEEP YOUR HANDS CLEAN THE ENTIRE TIME YOU ARE WORKING WITH IT!!!!  And, to say the least, this is very hard for me!  When stamping, my hands get so inked up and it is hard to keep from touching the white cardstock and not get ink residue on it...so, before you start working with the white, get a pouch of baby wipes out and keep them handy.  Always stamp everything first before you start working with the white card base.  Clean, clean, and clean your hands again.  So, once you do that, you should be good to go!  :-)

Out of these four cards, three of the designs in the middle are stamps from Stampin UP! and one is an embossed image that is inked with black ink.  The ribbon is a shear black ribbon and came from Hobby Lobby.  The "Just A Note" stamp is a random stamp that I got in a pack from Hobby Lobby...I think!  You can find similar phrases in numerous sets.

The sizes of the white block is 2x 3 1/2 and the black piece is 2 1/2x4.  The white is inked around the edges with a black Versamark ink pad and the black is inked around the edges with a silver Color Box ink pad.  The card is a standard A2 size.  I hope you get out the black and white and start playing with it.  It may not be fun to work with but it looks so good when you are done!  Have fun and remember, it is always homemade!!!

Origami...A Whole New World

One day last week, I was randomly browsing the Internet for card ideas and up pops one with three little dresses (just like the one above but much smaller) hanging on a line across the card front!  So CUTE!  It appeared to be folded like that so I Googled "Origami Dress"....and up popped SEVERAL different types of dresses that you could fold out of a piece of paper that starts out at 6x6.  So, I went for it!  I folded this dress (which came out much bigger than I expected) and another one that was cute as well.  I thought, now that I have a paper dress that measures about 5x5, what am I going to do with it????  I decided to make a card...if you can imagine that!  :-)  I made another one, since I liked this dress so much, and I am going to save it for a scrapbook page for my little girl...I am sure it will come in handy some time or other!  Anyway, so I inked the edges of this dress, put a white ribbon around the waist, put it on a 5x5 card, put two snaps in the top right corner and it was done and ready to send to someone.  I thought that it might be cute for a baby shower, little girl birthday or any other occasion that needs a "girlie" card.  Anyway, hope you enjoy and remember, it may be origami, but it is always homemade!

Her True Colors...

It's okay if you thought I wasn't going to make it this week with my weekly checklist! I didn't either. I just completed my scrapbook layout for the week this afternoon during my kids' nap time. I am cutting the deadline close, but, at least I made it. It has been a long week for our family! We only had dinner together twice this week. My son had a stomach bug on Monday and still wasn't up to par on Tuesday. We had several things going on this week and we were just really busy. We were gone from the house every day except Monday and Tuesday but those days were spent washing "sick" laundry and keeping a healthy child away from the sick one! Amazingly, none of the rest of us got sick! My son is much better now and back to his normal self. Anyway...back to the layout...

This is a layout that features my daughter within her first month of life. Yes, she was already a drama queen...we knew we were going to have some trouble on our hands! I mean, seriously, look at those expressions she is making!! This is a 12x12 layout for my daughter's First Year album. I cut the large flower out using my SCAL software and then cut the pictures out (using my Creative Memories cutting system) to fit on the petals. I cut the baby face and bow out using the Cricut cartridge "New Arrival". I used "Peachy Keen" paper doll face stamps for the baby face and proceeded to color in the eyes and tongue with markers. I used a border punch and ribbon to make the border on the bottom of the page. The extra petal of the flower will be where I journal the events involving the pictures. The title words were cut out with my SCAL software. I then stamped the words "her", "shining", and "through" using a small stamp set I purchased at Walmart for only 99 cents! They actually have several fonts to choose from and I need to pick up another one one day when I am in there. They work great and I have never had any problems with them. They are perfect for quick titles like this one. Similar sets are about 5 to 10 dollars elsewhere, so this is obviously a great deal!

I hope you enjoyed the layout! Now, go work on your next layout! Have a great evening and remember it is always homemade!

MY FIRST VIDEO!!!!! AHHHHH!!!

Let me begin by saying...."NO CHUCKLING PLEASE!!!"  Hope you enjoy the video and I hope it helps you make this cute owl.  I have to say, it is so weird listening to yourself on a video!  I sound so strange!  :-)

As promised, I actually did a video!!!  Wow!  I am not going to do these all the time, but I thought for some things, they might be appropriate and a lot of help!  So, here goes!  This is the Valentine Owl that I made for my daughter to give to her Bible Class Teachers on top of a piece of candy (see my post of 2/14/12).  They turned out so cute.  Enjoy the video!  FYI:  I do go off the camera a couple of times to cut with scissors....I will work on that!  :-)

Also, I think you could use these for NUMEROUS things...i.e. cards, scrapbook layouts...just change the colors and you would have a whole new look.  Have fun and good luck!  Remember, it is always homemade!

Homemade Fortune Cookies

I got this recipe off of Pinterest and it was so good....I did alter it a little bit because for some reason my batter was not as "runny" as it should have been...so, here is my adapted recipe.

1/2 Cup All Purpose Flour
1/2 Cup Sugar
1 tsp. of Vanilla
1 tsp. of Almond Extract
2 egg whites

MIX these ingredients...then add a tablespoon of milk at a time until your batter is the thickness of pancake batter.  You want it thick but not so thick that it won't pour out of the bowl.  About the same thickness of pancake batter is just right.  You now need to go to this link ( http://www.melskitchencafe.com/ Post on February 12, 2012) and read the rest of her instructions.  Hers are much prettier and perfect, but I will work on that!  :)
Even though I went with her general recipe, I added the milk and Almond Extract and I did not put my batter in the fridge for an hour...NOT NECESSARY!!  Also, I used non-stick cookie sheets, which did just fine.

I put 4 of these fortune cookies in a take out box and sent them to work with my husband...corny, huh?  But, you know what?....He loved it!  He opened one every few hours and they had little love notes in them!  How fun is that???  You could do this any time of year, just to let him know how much you love him!  You don't need Valentine's Day for a fun occasion such as this!  That night, we let the kids dip them in chocolate and sprinkles, which was a blast!!  They are very tasty as well, which made it even more fun!

BUT, if you don't want to try and cook these cute little cookies, then you can always make them from paper...right???  Yep, you can and here are the directions!

1.  Cut out a circle that is at least 3 inches in diameter.  Apply red tape to the side of paper you want to show after you fold them as seen below.

2.  Take the red strip off of the small piece of tape at the top of the circle and roll it to match the other side.  Put the tape UNDER the other side about a 1/2 inch.  See picture below...
(If you want to insert a fortune, now is the time to slip it in the roll that you have made)

3.  Now, turn the roll over to where you are looking at the long piece of red tape.  Peel off the red strip and connect the imaginary "x's" that I have drawn in.  The paper will bend in the middle of the roll and will look like the last picture!

All done!!  How simple was that!

I will say that thin paper is MUCH easier to do these with.  Just want to give you a heads up!  Pick some cute paper, make some of these and send them to work with the hubby!  He will love that you thought of him!

Whether you made the eatable cookies or the paper ones, have a great time doing it!  My husband and kids loved it and I loved eating them along the way!  Remember, it can be fun and sentimental, and it will always be homemade!

Anniversary Card

I told you I would find a use for that piece of vellum from last week....and here it is!  I made a quick card for my parents who are celebrated their anniversary on Sunday.  I adhered that stamped piece of vellum, from last week's post, with spray adhesive, tied the bow and stamped the "congratulations" on a green piece of cardstock.  The stamped cardstock has rounded corners on two sides and is inked around the edges as well.  Inside is the sentiment "on one more year of happy togetherness", which was stamped with the same set as the "congratulations".  This is a Stampin UP! set called "Congrats".  It was simple but really cute and perfect for my parent's anniversary.

Hope this inspires you to go stamp some vellum.....remember, it is always homemade!  Have a great day!

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day!  I hope everyone has a great day with their significant other!  Today my son has a Valentine party at his preschool and last week we made these valentines for all of his classmates.  He is really into pirate stuff this year....his Birthday Party next week is going to be decorated as such and when I asked him what kind of valentines he wanted, his reply was "pirates" of course!  So, since I couldn't find any in the store, we made them!  Imagine that.  I proceeded to cut out about 50 of these little pirate faces from the Cricut cartridge "Paper Doll Dress Up".  I had to cut out enough for all the kids in his preschool class as well as his friends in Bible Class.  I cut them out, but he glued them all down.  I applied the glue and he stuck it all down.  He did awesome!  The only part that I did was the eye patch just because it was a such a slim piece.  Anyway...these are the finished product!  They were so cute.  We glued them onto Reese Cups and put different funny pirate phrases on the back.  Here are a couple of examples...1.  "I've got my EYE on you".  2.  "I'd walk the plank for you!"....etc...   They will surely be a big hit!

Here he is glueing away!

These owl valentines are so cute as well!!!  I saw this on http://www.stampwithheather.typepad.com/ and copied it for my daughter's valentines for her Bible Class teachers.  They turned out soooooo cute.  We glued these to candy as well and then on the back circle wrote the sentiment, "Owl always love you".  Too cute!!!!  This owl could be made for anything...a scrapbook layout, a card...etc...  Believe it or not, I actually did a video of how to make these owls...once my husband helps me download it to YouTube, I will hopefully post it!

Hope you have a wonderful Valentine's Day! I know we will! Tonight we are spending time with the kids and decorating homemade fortune cookies! So fun! Friday night, we are leaving the kids with friends and celebrating our time alone! Remember, it is always fun and always homemade!

Hugs and Kisses!

Happy Birthday to You...

Cute and simple Birthday cards!  One is for a girl and one for a boy!  I saw a similar set up on http://www.kwernerdesign.com/ and I needed a couple of Birthday cards fast, so, I decided to try it.  The measurements on the "presents" are from top to bottom:  2x1 1/2, 3x1 1/2, and 3 1/2x1 1/2.  You cut a piece of ribbon that will be long enough to fit from the top to the bottom and tape the ribbon down under the first present, lay out all the presents on pop dots, tape the top of the ribbon under the top present and you are done with the "hard" part!  Then, you cut off 3 pieces of ribbon long enough to make the ties at the top of each present and you just tie them off with one knot.  I added the snaps after that was all done, inked the edges and called it done!  Inside the card, I wrote, "Hope your day is filled with lots of gifts!".  If I ever make another one, I will probably ink the edges of the gifts but that would be the only addition.  I made these all out of scraps as well!  Just another way to use the scraps!  Have a great day and remember, it is always homemade!

Monkey See....Monkey Do

After we got home from the hospital, Harrison wanted to be everywhere we were with Darcie.  If we were taking pictures of her, he had to get his picture taken as well...you know how it is when you come home with a new baby....the other child wants to be the center of attention too!  Anyway, these are a few pictures of the kids "doing" the same thing.  They are both in their seats, waiting for their pictures to be taken...well, at least Harrison is waiting!  Darcie could care less!  This layout is pretty self-explanatory.  The open pink area on the top right corner will be where I journal.  The thickers are white and glittery.  It took only a few minutes to finish (I know this surprises you) and it is one more page done for my daughter's First Year Album.  Hope you guys have a great weekend and remember, it is always homemade!!!

The World of Vellum

I just recently bought a pack of vellum for something I needed just one sheet for, but it was cheaper in the long run just to buy a pack...so, I have all this vellum and I had no idea what I could do with it. Vellum is one of those things that I just haven't worked with a lot, so I Googled it and the search engine came up with many ideas and videos. So, I spent A few minutes looking at all the possibilities...

In the first picture there are two ideas. The first one is just to stamp on it like you normally would a regular piece of paper...it takes a little longer to dry, so be prepared to have to wait on it for a few minutes. I just took a set of circle stamps that I bought at Hobby Lobby and used the Stampin Up! Earth Elements stamp set and started stamping! I made my own little design that I am sure I will use on a card in the future. The second idea is to emboss it by running it through your embossing machine. In my case, I have a Cuttlebug and I just ran it through using the one pictured above. I then colored in the bird on the BACK of the vellum with a blue marker. The not so fun thing about vellum is adhering it onto a piece of card stock without it being obvious. Creative Memories has some frosted squares that are supposed to not show...I haven't had much luck with them. They are better than regular adhesive but you can still see them. The best thing I have found is to use spray adhesive...a very thin layer at a longer distance than what the back of the can may say. You usually can not see it unless you use too much.

This second picture includes two wedding-ish cards. The first one, I saw online on Google Images. On the image there, the creator used a sheer ribbon or tulle. I thought that I could pull off vellum, so I tried and it came out great! (I have all the measurements and folds below.). The second card is really classy! I used the Medallion stamp from Stampin UP! and stamped it with Old Olive from the Earth Elements collection. I secured it to the card base by using eyelets on each corner. That is all that is holding it down. I then used silver stickers and spelled out Mr. and Mrs. And then wrote in "and" with a silver gel pen. It came out so cute and classy!  Now, I just need someone to get married and I am all set!  :-)

Instructions for the bride and groom card:

1. Cute a piece of vellum that is 4 1/4 x 4 1/4. Place it on your cutting map and make a dot (with a PENCIL) at the very top at 1 1/2 inches and at 3 1/2 inches. On the bottom make a dot at 3/4 inch and 3 1/2 inches. Connect the top dots to the bottom dots as shown below...

2. Now you are going to fold on those lines with the flap at the back of the vellum. Then you will turn the vellum over with the flaps on the top. At the top of the vellum you will now take each corner of the flaps and line up the point of the corner with the corner of the fold you just made. See the picture below...

3. You can now border punch the bottom of the "dress" with whatever border punch you would like to use. Now, the dress and the tux pieces I cut out on my SCAL software. My vellum actually fit almost exactly on the dress I used....I was incredibly lucky! I trimmed a little bit off each side and folded the top around the waist of the dress to slim up the waist a little bit, but that was all. Depending on what dress you cut out, you will have to arrange the vellum accordingly. You could free hand a dress or look up "wedding dress silhouette" on Google Images and print one out for a guide. The tux is just two triangles (the white one having a rounded top). I placed the bowtie and used black glitter glue from Micheal's for the three buttons.

Don't let vellum scare you anymore...seriously, search "vellum" on YouTube, and you will be amazed at how many videos there are about the different uses! Have fun and remember, it is always homemade!

Black and White Card

Are you working on the Scrap Challange...just a couple of more days!!!  Maybe this card will inspire you to make a quick card using scraps!  This is perfect for that!

I rarely work with black and white and I don't really know why because I really like the classy look it leaves behind on a project. So, today, I decided to work with it and make a cute 4x4 card with a homemade envelope with a different type of closer. It is one that you see quite frequently, but in this case, it is homemade! I saw a similar envelope idea on one of kwerner's videos at www.kwernerdesign.com. She has millions of videos on how to make all types of cards. Her envelope was not square and maybe not even homemade, but I figured I could make it myself, so, I went for it! I did it on the first try, which is great for you because I have all the measurements all ready put together for you.

The card itself is pretty self explanatory by the picture. It is a 4x8 piece of card stock that is folded in half. I started by covering the entire front with a pale grey piece of paper. I then put the two matching pieces of black and white patterned strips on the bottom of the card. I then ran a piece of ribbon across the front and secured it with a brad. Then, I added the "Hi" with card stock letters. I rounded the corners and then inked the top part of the card with a white stamp pad and the bottom of the card with a black stamp pad. That is it! Simple and cute and ready to send to someone!

As for the envelope, the finished size is 4.25 x 4.25. It fits the 4x4 card perfectly with a little wiggle room!

1. Cut out a piece of paper that is 5.25 x 11.
2. Place the piece of paper vertically on your score board and score at the 1/2 inch line and the 4 3/4 line.
3. Now turn the paper horizontally and score at the 4 1/4 line and the 8 1/2 line
4. With the paper still laying horizontally, mentally make a note that the right side of the paper is the top and the left side is the bottom! Remember this for the next step.
5. At this point I want you to take the paper and place it into your paper trimmer and trim 1/4 of an inch off the top and 1/2 inch off the bottom.
6. Now, you are going to cut off all four corners (the rectangles between the score lines). See the picture below...your corners should look like mine.
7. Now I want you to punch a half circle in the bottom center of the card...as seen below. This makes it easier for the receiver to remove the card out of the envelope.
8. Now, if you would like, you can cut the top edge of the card with a border punch of your choice.

Your finished product should look like the picture below!

Now, what I want you to do is to look at the picture below at the string closer. This is what you are about to do to your card. It is SIMPLE! Don't give up now!

I want you to now fold the envelope until it looks like it would when it is finished.  Fold the side wings in, the bottom flap up and then the top flap down.  You now need to make the marks for the holes that you will be inserting the eyelet into, as seen above.  Find the center and make a dot on the top flap about 3/4 of an inch above the bottom of the flap.  Then measure 1 1/2 inches below it and make another mark on the bottom flap.  Now you are ready to punch a small hole with your Crop-a-Dile at each dot.  Next, you need to select a small shape (punch a circle, square, hexagon...etc) and punch it out or use a dicut machine to cut it out.  I don't have a small circle punch (which I need to buy) so I just used a hexagon punch by Creative Memories.  You could use any type of shape that you can wrap a string around.  Punch the same size hole into the center or your shape pieces and secure each one onto the envelope with an eyelet.  Use some string of some sort (I used embroidery string) and tie a double knot around the top eyelet, wrap the string up and down on each shape and cut off the excess string.  Simple!!  It looks a little daunting at first but it is really simple!

Now it is time to glue the sides shut. Undo your string, fold the bottom flap up onto the wings and secure with glue or red tape. Now your card and envelope are ready to send! How fun was that??? Hope this inspires you to make a card today and an envelope to match!  Remember, it is always homemade!  Have a great day!

Brotherly Love

I am not going to lie to you...I just haven't been in the mood this week to scrapbook. My husband was out of town part of this week and came home last night and that is usually when I get a lot of crafty time but this week I have just not been motivated to scrap like I usually do when he is gone. But, two nights ago, I sat down and actually produced a pretty cute page considering my mood! I was proud of myself! I then proceeded to work on cutting pieces out for my son's pirate valentines and some milk carton templates out as well for his teachers at school for their valentines! So, it turned out to be a pretty productive evening.

This page is a series of pictures that we took very soon after I came home from the hospital with our little girl. We weren't sure how Harrison was going to react to a new baby in the house, but as you can see, he is a great big brother and it was "love at first sight". He still loves her now, 19 months later, although he doesn't always "like" her! Sometimes I feel like a referee but that is just part of being a parent! ;)

Anyway, the base of this page is pink (of course)...although I am not a PINK kind of girl, it just seems that all girl pages include it somehow! I used the green to mat the pictures and then a print to outline the collage of pictures. I then used a pink border strip that I had precut on the Cricut and placed it at the top of the journaling box to add a little demention. I inked the edges, put a lined border around all the matted pictures and then added the three circle stickers in the bottom left hand corner. I then added "brotherly" in white letter stickers and then wrote "love" onto a matching pink color and placed it under the white stickers, I think it turned out very cute...but that is just me! ;)

Hope it inspires to you get working on your next page, even though you may not "be in the mood". It doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to be homemade!

Have a great day and don't forget to work on your challange project this weekend!

Another Card Out Of Scraps...

Here is another card I made last week purely out of scrap paper. I cut this baby carriage out using the Cricut Cartridge New Arrival. The baby face and bow came from this one as well. This is a regular A2 size card made out of craft card stock. The carriage is cut at 5 inches and fits perfectly on this card front. The pieces are also cut at 5 inches. The baby face is cut at 1 3/4 inches and the bowtie is cut at 3 inches. The bowtie is on the same page as the baby face. It is actually made to be a bow in a baby girl's hair but I used it as a bowtie instead. The face is on pop dots to give the 3D effect. The face stamp is from www.peachykeen.com. They work great for the Paper Doll Cartridge. Worth every penny! I inked the edges up and adhered it all down to the card and called it done! I used this card last week for all the hostesses of the shower to sign so that my friend would have a list of all those who helped!

Time is counting down to the end of the challenge! Have a great day and remember, it is always homemade!

Scrap Challenge

Okay, today begins the scrap challenge! I told you about this a couple of weeks ago and here it is already time for the challenge. Here are the rules....you have to make something, whether it be a card, scrapbook page or anything else you can think of, purely out of your scrap drawer! I will help you out a little bit and allow you to use one piece of paper that is not in your drawer! This will most likely be the card base or the base for a page layout...or whatever you choose to do with it. I am going to give you ONE WEEK! You have until next Tuesday, February 7th at 9pm Central Time. I know this is a little premature because i just started this blog recently, but i thought we would try it. If there are enough people that comment, there will be a REWARD! All you have to do is leave a comment with a description of what you made and you will be put into the drawing. MAKE SURE YOU LEAVE ME AN EMAIL ADDRESS IN YOUR COMMENT SO THAT I CAN GET IN TOUCH WITH YOU IF YOU WIN! I will use www.random.org to decide the winner so that there is no question on who deserves to win! So, if you know anyone that might like to join us in this challange, let them know about it as well! Good Luck and have fun!

So, here is the card I made purely out of scrap paper this week. I saw this card template on www.kwernerdesign.com last week and really wanted to try it, so I decided to make it with my scrap paper (which I have plenty of). She does some really cool cards that have an array of different folds. I go there when i need to get my juices flowing for a card idea!

Okay, so here are the instructions:

Base card is 11x4 and scored from each end at 2' and 3 3/4'. And then it is folded accordingly.

Both front panels are 3 3/4' x 1 3/4'

The inside patterned paper is 3 3/4' x 3 1/4' and the solid inside paper is 3 1/2' x 3'

The blocks on the front under the stamped images from front to back are the following size squared: 1 3/4', 2', 2 1/4', 2 1/2', 2 3/4'

The top square is adhered with pop dots for a 3D effect so I would go ahead and stamp my image before assembling the squares together. All of my edges are inked and I stamped the matching owl inside the card for fun. I used a blender pen and colored in the owl on the front with blue, green, and orange. He is so cute!  This owl and his cage come from the Stampin UP! set called Aviary.

Once you have all the squares attached together it is time to adhere it to the card front...now, you only attach it to the left side! DO NOT put adhesive on the entire back side. I put my adhesive on the card and then laid it down, but whatever is easier for you...just remember to not put it on both sides or you won't be able to open it!! I did not stamp a sentiment, so that when I am ready to mail it, I can stamp the appropriate sentiment inside and it will be done!

This card comes out to be a square card that is 4x4. The video I watched actually made it a little wider than 4 inches, but I wanted mine to be a perfect square so I changed the dimensions a little bit. I made an envelope with the Cricut Cartridge "Beyond Birthdays". I set the square card envelope on shadow at 6 inches. It makes a perfect 4x4 envelope! I assembled and stamped the envelope and it is ready to be mailed!

Good luck with the challenge! See you next Wednesday with the winner! Remember, it is always fun to use the scraps and make something homemade!
